Peter is a member of the Standing Committee on Finance, Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure of the Standing Committee on Finance, Special Committee on Canada-China Relations, and the Special Committee on the COVID-19 Pandemic. 

He also participates in a variety of Parliamentary Associations and Interparliamentary Groups, including the Canadian NATO Parliamentary Association, and the Canada-United States Inter-Parliamentary Group. He was formerly involved with the Canada-Africa Parliamentary Association (executive vice-chair), the Canada-China Legislative Association, the Canadian Branch of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), the Canadian Group of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) (member), and is the co-chair of the Southwestern Ontario Caucus.

Peter formerly served on the Subcommittee on International Human Rights of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development, Foreign Affairs and International Development, Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security, and the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development.
